Ranvir Shorey, a name known for his roles in films like Chandni Chowk to China, Ek Tha Tiger, 420 IPC and so on is emerging as a strong and fascinating contestant in the ongoing Bigg Boss OTT3 hosted by Anil Kapoor. In a recent episode, Shorey made a rare, indirect mention of his past relationship with actor-director Pooja Bhatt and described it as the biggest scandal of his life, while interacting with his co- contestants. He also talked about the bad phase of his life after he lost his mother, calling it a period of intense personal turmoil.

Struggles Amidst Success

Ranvir recalled shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s  Lakshya in Ladakh in 2002 when he received the heartbreaking call about his mother’s deteriorating health. He found himself caught in a storm of emotional and professional challenges as he wasn’t able to leave the set until the shoot ended and on the other side there were pain and sufferings of his mother. During this miserable time, he was also involved in what he termed “the biggest scandal” of his life with another actress.

“During the same time, I also encountered the biggest scandal of my life with another actress. As I was unable to cope, my brother asked me to come to the US with him for a while. I pursued a six-month acting course in the US and borrowed money from my brother. After returning from the US, I started shooting for The Great Indian Comedy Show in 2005,” Ranvir shared with the other housemates.

At this point his professional life was going well as his two long shelved films were released back to back and his work was recognised by both audiences and critics. “After those films, I finally felt my life was steady as an actor and that I had arrived,” Ranvir added.

The Pooja Bhatt Chapter

Ranvir and Pooja were good friends before they decided to give love a try and move in together. However, the love was short lived and their relationship ended on a very bitter note. Pooja accused Ranvir of being physically abusive after drinking, which eventually became one of the most talked about gossip of B-Town. Although Ranvir denied all the claims made by Pooja that he was an alcoholic and abusive lover, it actually took a bad toll on his image in the industry.

Moving Forward

Ranvir married actor Konakana Sen Sharma in 2010, and they both have a son, Haroon born in 2011. The couple decided to part ways in 2015 and got divorced in 2020. Pooja found love with Manish Makhija, marrying him in 2003, but they got divorced in 2014.

Pooja participated in the last season of Bigg Boss OTT and was one of the finalists, setting the stage for Ranvir’s escalating participation this year.

This was not the first time when Ranvir was honest and blunt about his life on this reality show, during his initial days when asked by one of the contestants about his professional life, Ranvir honestly replied “Kaam Hota to Yahan Thode Aata”  (if I had work, why I would come here). Ranvir Shorey’s candid revelation on the Bigg Boss OTT3  offers a glimpse into his ability and resilience to overcome professional and personal hurdles, making his journey a captivating narrative of growth and recovery.
