Kamya Punjabi quite recently shared her opinion on women’s safety in the Hindi entertainment industry. The actress claimed while sharing her experience that there is no cases or chance of sexual abuse cases taking place in the television industry.
Kamya Panjabi’s Statement regarding the industry:
In an interview Kamya reflected upon the work culture in Hindi Television industry by saying, “Television has been very clean. I don’t know what used to happen in the past but now it is very clean. There is no filth here. People aren’t forced or blackmailed here. There is no casting couch. If you fit the role, you have talent, you will be selected for the show. I feel television is the safest place in the entertainment industry. Sexual abuse does not take place here. Whatever happens, there is mutual consent. Nobody is telling anyone to sleep with them in the promise of a role.”
She went on to say, “Some actors are womanisers but if you stop it, if you make it very clear, such things do not happen. Nobody is forced to do this. Nobody is going to make you feel uncomfortable by touching you without your consent. If you tell them, Hello, I don’t like it, you will not be touched. We have seen actors who go crazy for girls but nobody forces anybody. But if a girl does not want to, it will not happen. It does not happen in the television industry. I do not know about films or OTT, but in Television it does not happen.”
Panjabi’s acting career till now:
Kamya Panjabi made her acting debut in Ssshhhh…koi hai. After that she worked her way up in various Hindi daily soaps like Kehta Hai Dil, Piya ka Ghar, Astitva…ek prem kahani, Woh Rehne wali mehlon ki, and Banoo main teri dulhann. She also participated as a contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss in its Season 7.
