Rajan Shahi’s popular daily soap on Star Plus, “Anupama” starring Rupali Ganguly, Gaurav Khanna and Sudhanshu Pandey as lead has captured the hearts of viewers for years. However, recently fans were taken aback by Aashish Mehrotra Aka Toshu’s announcement of quitting the show. In his social media post Ashish announced that he is bidding farewell to “Anupama”.
In an emotional note, Aashish shared his emotions and thoughts on leaving the show. He wrote, “It was a beautiful journey.. a journey spanning almost 4 years as your “Toshu” in Anupama.. The character, being the opposite of who I am as a person, has made it all the more challenging and enjoyable to embody. It has been an incredible roller coaster ride… But what a ride!!!!” His co stars Rupali who plays his mother Anupama, Gaurav Khanna Aka Anuj Kapadiya, Kunwar Amarjeet portraying the character of Titu, Princy Prajapati playing Ashish’s darling daughter Pari, Muskan Bamne playing the role of Sweetie , Alpana Buch portraying role of Baa were among those who showered their love and blessings for Ashish in comment box of his post.
Ashish’s image of Toshu has been a turbulent one, showcasing a wide range of experiences and emotions. From being a college topper MBA gold medalist Dad’s favorite, a madly in love lover eloping to marry, a son in law influenced by his wealthy mother in law, a money driven selfish individual, an irresponsible father and fraudster, Ashish has bought depth to each each phase of Toshu’s life.
Reflecting on his journey, Ashish realized that Toshu’s love for his father was the most special aspect for him. “It brings tears to my eyes instantly.. It’s all so overwhelming,” Ashish wrote. The emotional journey of playing Toshu, and the relations he made on set with his fellow cast members, has left a lasting impact on Ashish.
He expressed his gratitude to his audience for their love and support for Toshu, and referred to them as his “second family”. He even accepted their dislike for Toshu’s character, which he believes is a form of their love and connections.
As he signs off from “Anupama,” Ashish surprised his fans as he began his “Khatron ke Khiladi” journey with celebs like Sumona Chakravorty, Abhishek Kumar, Shalin Bhanot, Gashmeeri Mahajan, Nimrit Ahluwalia etc. Although Ashish already gave a hint in his post “ You will see me soon in another form, perhaps even as my true self.. Seeking your acceptance, love and blessings forever. Signing off with boundless gratitude.” But fans are finally delighted to see him at the launch of that show.
Ashish was seen slaying in a trendy and casual outfit during the launch of Khatron ke Khiladi 14. As his fans are excited to see him on this adventure based reality show hosted by Rohit Shetty, Ashish shared that his mother was quite scared about his decision to participate in the show. Ashish also spilled some beans on his onscreen mother Rupali’s reaction to his participation. He said, “she was really happy and is rooting for me.” He also shared that Rupali even gave him advice calling it a new chapter of his life, and asked him to perform Dil Khol Kar and jeet Kar wapas aana.
In the meantime, the character of Toshu will remain a memorable part of Anupama, all thanks to Ashish’s power pack performance. His journey in the show may have come to an end, but the impression he has made will continue to stir his fans and followers.
