The seventh season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive follows the 2024 Formula One World Championship. It has 10 episodes and was released on Netflix on 7 March 2025. It includes Lewis Hamilton’s surprising move to Ferrari, controversies surrounding Christian Horner, Lando Norris’ fight for the championship, and Daniel Ricciardo’s farewell to Formula One.

Familiar faces return, key team members switch sides, and new champions rise in one of the most dramatic seasons in Formula One history. The latest season of Drive to Survive was released just before the 2025 Formula 1 season kicks off in March-end.

Episode 1: Business as Usual

Lewis Hamilton announces he is moving to Ferrari while rumors about allegations against Christian Horner circulate in the paddock.

Review: Episode 1

Positive Aspects:

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was one of the biggest surprises in F1 history. The show captures the tension and reactions as he leaves Mercedes to take Carlos Sainz’s place.

At the start of the season, Max Verstappen and Red Bull seemed unstoppable, but other teams slowly caught up, making the championship fight more exciting.

Carlos Sainz’s comeback was inspiring to me as just 16 days after appendix surgery, he was back on track and competing at a high level.

The series also gives a great behind-the-scenes look at driver contracts, team decisions, and the pressure inside the paddock.

We get to see different racing drivers share their genuine feelings about competing in the season, and it doesn’t feel scripted.

Negative Aspects:

Red Bull had to deal with more than just racing, as Christian Horner faced intense media scrutiny. However, at times, the focus on Christian Horner’s controversy was too much. While it was a major story, it sometimes took attention away from the actual racing.

Some moments also felt overly dramatic, as if tension was added just for entertainment, which might not sit well with serious F1 fans. Overall, some parts of the web series felt more like a scandal documentary than a racing show.

Performances:

  • Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is the biggest shock of the season.
  • Christian Horner remains central to the off-track drama with allegations and investigation.
  • Carlos Sainz showcases resilience after appendix surgery.
  • Max Verstappen continues to dominate but faces challenges.

Series Quality:

  • Well-produced with high-quality footage.
  • Strong storytelling, balancing race action with personal and team dynamics.

Verdict:

This season of Drive to Survive is one of the most exciting yet. It captures the highs and lows of the 2024 F1 season, combining thrilling races with behind-the-scenes drama. While some parts focus too much on controversy, it’s still a must-watch for both F1 fans and casual viewers.
