Famed singer Payne died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, according to police there. He had recently celebrated his 31st birthday in the UK, according to videos posted on his Snapchat.
This month, Payne could be seen attending his former bandmate Horan’s concert in Argentina on October 2. He had a son, born in 2017. In a video shared on YouTube in 2023, he talked about the affection he felt for Bear, adding: “He’s far more smart than I think I’ll ever be.”

Liam Payne cause of death
In May 2023, Liam Payne announced that he had been preparing an album and planning a tour. The tour should have kicked off in September that same year, but the singer had to postpone the scheduled dates after suffering a kidney infection.
In March 2024, he released his song ‘Teardrop’. He has been open about past struggles involving substance abuse and revealing about him completing treatment and being six months sober in the summer of 2023.

The police have confirmed to PEOPLE that Payne died after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires The incident remains under meticulous investigation and the cause of his death has not yet been determined.
Former One Direction member speaks mental health
Speaking to the media back in 2019, former One Direction member Liam Payne explained: “There have been a lot of people in trouble ith mental health that are not really getting the help that they need, and I think that is a bit of a problem in our industry.”
In a 2021 episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, Payne said that he had encountered suicidal thoughts during his time in the band. “There is some stuff that I have definitely never, never spoken about it. It’s really, really, really severe,” he added.
But talking about him celebrating six months of sobriety in July 2023, Payne noted: “I just kind of feel like I have got more of a grip on life and everything that’s getting Away from me. I just feel like I have got more of a handle on it.”
Kate Cassidy returns to US days before Payne’s death
Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy had been in an on-and-off relationship since 2022. They’re first scene together in November of that year before briefly splitting in May 2023, and getting back together soon after. She has yet to comment on her boyfriend’s death.
Cassidy had reportedly left for the US a handful of days before the October 16 incident. She continued posting on TikTok even a couple of days before his demise, sharing video clips from Argentina. In her latest post, she is seen flying alone back to the sunshine state of Florida.
