K-drama superstars Song Hye-kyo (earlier seen in Descendants of the Sun and Glory) and Gong Yoo (Squid Game and Goblin) are set to star in a highly anticipated Netflix series, alongside Kim Seol-hyun, Cha Seung-won and Lee Hanee.

Set against the backdrop of the intense Korean entertainment industry in the 1960s and 1980s, ‘Show Business’ features Hye-kyo as a resilient person (Min-ja) shaped by a challenging childhood. She is determined to make her mark in the Korean music industry.
Gong Yoo plays Dong-gu, Min-ja’s childhood friend. Both these characters have faced all kinds of situations together. They enter the music industry side by side. Despite his reckless and unpredictable nature, Dong-gu listens to almost anything his friend says.
Dong-gu has enjoyed a constant presence in Min-ja’s life. They share an unbreakable bond, albeit their personalities differ. He is her protector and biggest supporter. It is going to be a fun experience checking out Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo’s roles.

Kim Seol-hyun is taking on the role of Min-hui. She is expected to seamlessly add a layer of complexity to the story. Her relationship with Min-ja features admiration, jealousy and competition. Beneath her surface of innocence, there is a rebellious spirit.
Cha Seung-won is playing the legendary Gil-yeo. This character is recognised as one of the most celebrated and influential composers of this generation. He has the ability to identify and nurture talent, transforming aspiring singers into stars.
Lee Hanee (earlier seen in ‘The Fiery Priest’) is playing Yang-ja. She is Min-ja’s mother and a passionate aspiring singer. In the intense Korean entertainment industry of the last century, can she leave a mark? She is not afraid of dreaming big.

‘Show Business’ represents a star-studded affair. Bringing this ambitious project to life is Noh Hee-gyoung (celebrated for her emotionally rich storytelling) and Lee Yoon-jung (a master director famous for crafting character-driven narratives).
On the professional front, Song Hye-kyo recently starred in ‘The Priests 2: Dark Nuns’. This film released in the theatres on January 24 and represents the actress’s debut in the increasingly popular Korean occult genre.
Gong Yoo, on the other hand, is also in the limelight for his stunning role as The Recruiter in ‘Squid Game’. The Recruiter or The Salesman is a major antagonist of the globally hit Squid Game franchise. He is both approachable and ruthless.
