Veteran Actor Tony Todd Deceased at 69

Fans are deeply saddened with the passing away of doyen of splendid acting Tony Todd. Actor Tony Todd passed away on Wednesday due to prolonged illness at 69 and his demise has been confirmed by one of his confidants on Friday to a Hollywood Reporter. 

Early Days

Tony was born in Washington D.C. on December 4,1954. He was the alma mater of Hartford Public High School, University of Connecticut. His passion for art and acting pushed him to pursue his career commencing from the Eugene O’Neill National Actors Theatre Institute. 

On-screen career of Tony Todd

Critically acclaimed war film “Platoon” which was skillfully written and directed by Oliver Stone in 1986 was the debut movie of Tony Todd as an actor. He appeared as one of the leading characters as Warren in “Platoon”. He consistently worked harder to become skilled in his acting. His fame went sky-high and grabbed the attention of the fans through the horror films including “Night of the Living Dead” and another blockbuster supernatural horror franchise in Hollywood “Candyman”. He played the cold-blooded hook-handed killer role when someone repeats his name five times before the mirror. He appeared in the 1992 to 2021 franchise movies of Candyman.

Theatre and Television Achievements

Tony is also an accomplished theatre and television actor. He had appeared in the roles at the culturally significant theatre ‘Broadway’. “24:Redemption, Babylon 5, Law & Order, The X Files, Chuck and Smallville” earned huge recognition as an enchanting television actor. ‘Kurn, Jake Sisko, Alpha Hirogen, General Rodek’ are the multiple roles played by Todd in the magnificent “Star Trek” franchise.

He is a prominent voice artist behind the most celebrated characters like Decepticon Dreadwing of Transformers: Prime,and  Zoom, in The Flash season 2.

On November 6, 2024 commanding actor Tony Todd took his last breath due to his longtime illness.
