Linkin Park reunites with new female lead singer Emily Armstrong…

Linkin Park, well the name says it all. One of the best known rock music bands in the world is set to set the stage on fire reuniting after almost 7 long years, bringing in new members and tracks after their lead singer, Chester Benington took his own life in 2017.

The band has a new female lead vocalist Emily Armstrong along with a new drummer Colin Brittain, added vocals will be by Mike Shinoda who is the oldest member of the band currently serving. The band is set to launch a new album along with a world tour performing in various places.

To give a background of Emily, she grew up in Los Angeles and is best known as the singer in the alternate rock band Queen Sara that she co founded with guitarist Siouxsie Medley in 2005.

In an interview, Armstrong recalled the impact Linkin Park’s 2000 album Hybrid Theory had on her. She said, “I was in a band when it came out. One Step Closer was the track for me. And I was just like, that’s what I wanna do. As a singer, I want to be able to scream. That album had everything, I have listened to it a trillion times. I would skate to it.”

In an era where solo artists shot to fame and were meaning business, Linkin park was the only band that were on the top hits charts of the playlists of music lovers. They are the only band to have featured in Spotify’s top 10 streamed albums of all time with hits like paper cuts attracting more than 9 million streams a day.

It’s not only Linkin Park who have had to find their lead singer following the death of the front vocalist. Bands such as Alice in Chains and Sublime have previously done the same thing after their singer’s death.

Another leading example is of the iconic band Queen that have toured with vocalist Adam Lambert after the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991. Coming back to LP, Brittain will replace Linkin Park’s previous drummer Rob Bourdon.

The reason as explained by Mike goes as, “Rob had said to us at a point that, I guess it was a few years ago that he wanted to put some distance between him and the band. And we understood  that – it was really apparent. He was appearing less in concert, and the fans noticed it too. Personally it feels sad as a friend but I want him to do whatever makes him happy.”

Colin had previously worked with bands like Papa Roach and All Time Low. The rock band is to go touring for the first time since Chester’s death in 2017. They will make stops at Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, Seoul, and London.
