Sony’s ‘Karate Kid – Legends’, aptly named, has Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, two legends uniting for an ultimate movie for the summer of 2025. The trailer of the new Karate Kid movie just dropped, making fans in awe of the cast, crew and how the makers are presenting a tribute of sorts for the legends that is up for release on 30 May, 2025.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, the Karate Kid – Legends will follow a new, young fighter prodigy Li Fong played by Ben Wang. “After a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown, read the official description.

The movie will be set in New York and will also combine two different styles of fighting for the young prodigy to win the tournament and further move on with his life from the personal tragedy. The fifth edition of The Karate Kid franchise that started from 1984 with Ralph Macchio as a young Karate prodigy. The legendary Jackie Chan joined the franchise in 2010 with Jaden Smith, directed by Harald Zwart.
