Spiderman first appeared in movie theatres in  2002, giving Marvel comics a chance to give competition to DC who was into the market with Superman and Batman.

Created by Stan Lee, the comic book was adapted into a film by Marvel Studios and Andrew Garfield played the lead character at first. Rest is history.

Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse (2023) –

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K Thompson, the movie stars Shameik Moore as Spider Man, and Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, and Jake Johnson in side roles. According to the critics, the movie is visually dazzling and action packed with thrills continuing till the final climax.

Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse (2018) –

Starring Shameik Moore in lead, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, and Mahershala Ali in supporting roles, the movie is directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman. The animated movie is purely a blockbuster with a tinge of comedy, action and romance all mixed into one. 

The plot makes the movie interesting to watch. Bitten by a radioactive spider, Brooklyn boy Miles Morales goes on to become Spider Man. He meets Peter Parker and realises many alongside him share special powers. They go on to fight an evil kingpin and emerge victorious.

Spider Man No way home (2021) –

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland as Spider Man, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon in supporting roles. 

This is the first movie where Spidey gets into a bit of a conflict as his superpowers get revealed. Spidey ask Dr strange to restore the secrets but a hole emerges from where all the dreaded villains appear into the multiverse and putting spidey’s close ones at risk challenging the sole existence of the multiverse.

Spider Man 2 (2004)

Director Sam Raimi brings us Spider Man 2 where Tobey Maguire plays Spiderman and Kristen Dunst plays the female lead, while Alfred Molina plays the antagonist. The movie gives an entertaining villain to watch out for with a sense of deep emotional connection that improves the overall watching experience.

Spiderman 3 (2007) – 

Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and MJ (Kristen Dunst) are finally on the right track in their relationship but trouble looms up ahead for the hero and her lover. Peter’s Spidey suit turns black as it takes control of him, giving him enhanced power and brings out his dark personality. The two villains are seen holding Peter back as he fights to regain control.

The film is directed by Sam Raimi. Watch it at Disney+ Hotstar, and Prime Video both with a subscription.

⁠Spiderman Homecoming  (2017) –

After meeting the avengers, Peter Parker comes to live with his aunt in Brooklyn. Under the mentorship from Iron Man (Tony Stark), Peter Parker gets a new identity of Spider Man. The movie sees Parker trying to get into his new form as he prepares to fight the evil Vulture who threatens his near and dear ones.

Directed by Jon Watts, this movie stars Tom Holland as Spiderman and Micheal Keaton, Robert Downey Jr in important side roles. 

The movie can be watched on Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar.

Spiderman – Far from Home  (2019) –

This also sees Jon Watts as the director, and stars Tom Holland as spidey and Samuel  Jackson, Marisa Tomei in supporting roles. It shows how Peter Parker’s European vacation is cut short when Nick Fury recruits him for a mission.

The film can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video and Disney plus Hotstar.

The Amazing Spider Man – 1 (2012) –

Directed by Mark Webb, the movie shows Teenage Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) being raised by his aunt and uncle as he was abandoned in childhood by his parents. Emma Stone features as Spidey’s crush, Gwen Stacy. The film shows Peter Parker searching for his parents and leads him to Oscor’s Lab where he confronts Dr Curt Connors. 

The film is available for viewing on Prime Video and Disney plus Hotstar.

The Amazing Spider Man 2 (2014) –

This is the sequel to the Amazing Spider Man and is directed by Mark Webb. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is seen spending time with his crush Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) as he also protects New York from criminals. He faces Oscorp as his main enemy.
