The list also includes Edward Berger’s ‘Conclave’, Malcolm Washington’s ‘The Piano Lesson’, Nickolaj Arcel’s ‘The Promised Land’, the persian language film ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ from Mohammad Rosoulof, Dennis Villeneuve’s highly acclaimed Dune: Part Two, Sean Baker’s ‘Anora’ that also bagged several nominations in Critics Choice Awards, Sean Wang’s ‘Didi’, Julian Brave NoiseCat, Emily Kassie’s marvellous ‘Sugarcane’, James Mangold’s infamous Bob Dylan Biography ‘A Complete Unknown’.
Among the list are several movies that are already in the spotlight with multiple nominations in the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards such as Conclave – a movie about the election following the mysterious death of the current Pope in Rome. Dune : Part Two that stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and many talents was also praised and nominated in both the above mentioned awards. ‘All We Imagined As Light’ even won the Best International Feature in Gotham Awards this year with several nominations in the upcoming Golden Globes and Critics Choice but got mugged off at the Academy Awards short list, much to the dismay of the Indian audience.
