A few days after Mumbai Police got a death threat calling on Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, Chhattisgarh-based lawyer Faizan Khan aka Mohammad Faizan Khan was called as the suspect. Living within the jurisdiction of Pandri police station in Raipur, Faizan came under scrutiny when investigators linked the threatening call to a phone registered in his name.
Faizan said he lost his phone last week and now claiming that he is being framed. He reported the device as lost to local authorities and maintained he had no involvement in the threat. Mumbai Police, however, are still interrogating him and are trying to understand his statement as they consider foul play with ₹50 lakh extortion demand also linked to the incident.
A History between Faizan and Shah Rukh Khan
Interestingly, Faizan’s history with Shah Rukh Khan stretches back to a previous controversy. Faizan involved Shah Rukh Khan by using dialogue from the actor’s 1994 movie “Anjaam”. Shah Rukh had been accused by Faizan of using a line in the film that disparages deer hunting something Faizan took offense as he has close ties with Rajasthan’s Bishnoi community which holds the protection of deer as a sacred duty.

Speaking to reporters, Faizan thought that his lost phone could have been used by someone to plan an attack against him using his earlier case with Shah Rukh to the present threat on the actor. “It seems intentional; I believe this is a conspiracy to frame me,” Faizan stated, adding that his support for the Bishnoi community makes him an easy target.
Crimes Investigated by Mumbai Police and its Legal Actions
The Mumbai Police have lodged a formal offense of extortion and arrested the anonymous caller under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to criminal threats and intimidation. Currently, there are no arrests, and the investigation is still pending, although Faizan’s claim of phone theft is a significant point of inquiry.
This comes after other threats to the lives of Bollywood stars especially Salman Khan, in connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang due to the blackbuck shooting in 1999. However, with the probe getting more serious, it remains uncertain whether Faizan Khan was involved or not in the case as the authorities try to dissect this complex incident.
