After watching the IPL for over one and a half months, it is generally likely that as cricket fans, the craziness and intensity is still ongoing in the minds all over the country. To make it more exciting, the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup is starting from June. We have curated a list of Bollywood movies that you can watch at home to keep the feeling going till the matches start.

Kai Poche (2013)

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s book 3 mistakes of my life, the film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Rao in lead roles and depicts the 3 of them trying to make it big by opening a cricket coaching academy and sports shop. Eventually one of the kids that Ishaan (SSR) was training gets to make his debut with the Indian national cricket team but Ishaan gets killed by his Omkar (Amit) during the Gujarat Riots. The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor and released on 22 Feb 2013. It is available on Netflix for streaming.

Iqbal (2005)

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and starring Sreyash Talpade, Naseeruddin Shah, and Shweta Basu Prasad in lead roles, the timeless classic tells the story of a deaf and mute boy Iqbal (Sreyash) who is passionate to become a fast bowler and how he is trained by a broken ex cricketer Mohit (Naseeruddin Shah) to join the Indian Cricket team at last. The character of Iqbal’s sister Khadija is also brilliantly played by Shweta Basu Prasad. 

M.S Dhoni, The Untold Story (2016)

This blockbuster film is based on MS Dhoni’s life starting from childhood days to being a Ticket collector at Kharagpur to finally making his debut in cricket to lifting the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput as MSD, Kiara Advani as Sakhshi Dhoni, Disha Patani and Anupam Kher. It is directed by Neeraj Pandey and Mathur Goswami.

83 (2021)

Based on the 1983 World Cup Win against the West Indies by former Indian Captain Shri Kapil Dev and team, the film stars Ranveer Singh as Mr Kapil Dev, Deepika Padukone as his wife, Pankaj Tripathi, Sakib Saleem, and Tahir Raj Bhasin in lead roles among others. It is directed by Kabir Khan.

Shabaash Mithu (2022)

The film is a biography based on the real life story of Mithali Raj, the former test and ODI Captain of the Indian National Women’s Cricket Team. It stars Taapsee Pannu as the lead and the character is brilliantly played by her. The film was directed by Srijit Mukherjee.

Azhar (2016)

Directed by Anthony D’Souza, the biographical movie stars Emraan Hashmi as Former Cricketer and Indian Captain Mohammed Azharuddin. It also has Nargis Fakhri and Prachi Desai in supporting roles.
