1. Omkara

The film was adapted from William Shakespeare’s Othello, co-written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. It stars an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, and Bipasha Basu in lead roles.
Storyline
In this adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Othello” set in India, half-caste bandit Omkara Shukla (Ajay Devgan) abducts his lady love, Dolly Mishra (Konkona Sen Sharma), from her family. Thanks to his cleverness, he gets away with the kidnapping. A conspiracy, however, forms against him when he denies his right-hand man, Langda Tyagi (Kareena Kapoor), a promotion. Ultimately, this plot threatens not only his relationship with Dolly but their lives and those of their associates as well
2. Golmaal

The movie is based on Mihir Bhuta’s Gujarati play Aflatoon which was based on Harsh Shivsharan’s Marathi play Ghar Ghar which had earlier been adapted in Malayalam in 2001 as Kakkakuyil Golmaal was released on 14 July 2006. It is considered as a modern cult film.
Storyline
Studious Laxman (Sharman Joshi) always seems to get into trouble when he hangs out with his mischievous childhood buddies Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Gopal (Ajay Devgan) and Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor). Laxman is evicted from his college dormitory after discovering that his friends have been using the room as a base of operations. Hapless Laxman and his friends must then find refuge in the home of an elderly couple, whose house, it turns out, contains a cache of hidden jewels.
3. Ramleela

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Ram-Leela narrates the star-crossed romance between the two eponymous lovers from two gangster families, who fall in love with each other but are forced to separate due to their families’ centuries-old rivalry
and the main lead cast in Ramleela are Deepika padukone and Ranvir Singh.
Storyline
Ram and Leela love each other but cannot stay together as their families, Rajadi and Sanera, have been at war with each other for the past 500 years. In the end, they both need to make a sacrifice
4. Haider

It stars Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Shraddha Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan. Set amidst the insurgency-hit Kashmir conflicts of 1995, Haider is a modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet. It is also based on Basharat Peer’s memoir Curfewed Night.
Storyline
A young man becomes troubled after discovering that his mother’s new husband may be responsible for his father’s death. He sets out on a path of revenge and soon discovers that his loved ones won’t be spared either.
5. Maqbool

William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, with the Mumbai underworld as its backdrop. Miyan Maqbool (Irrfan Khan) is the right-hand man of Jahangir Khan (alias Abba Ji) (Pankaj Kapur), a powerful underworld don.
Storyline
In Mumbai’s criminal underworld, the lord of all lords is Jahangir Khan (Pankaj Kapoor). Those loyal to him include Maqbool (Irfan Khan), his chief. But Maqbool is in love with Nimmi (Tabu), Jahangir’s mistress, who convinces him to be ambitious and take over the empire. After maneuvering potential rivals out of the way, Maqbool betrays Jahangir, murdering him in his bed. However, it isn’t long before the ghosts of their treacherous deeds haunt Maqbool and Nimmi.
