Richa’s Heartfelt Gratitude on Instagram

The Fukrey actress took to Instagram to share her joy and gratitude with fans. Posting a heartfelt message alongside the film’s poster, she expressed her pride in the film and appreciation for the team behind it. “Before the day ends, I want to express my gratitude to the team of ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ – this film is a gift that keeps on giving! We will always be proud of it!” she wrote.

Festival Success Across the Globe

The film has not only impressed audiences in Los Angeles but has also earned acclaim at the Transylvania International Film Festival and the Biarritz Film Festival in France, where it similarly won the Grand Jury Prize. This international recognition underscores the film’s universal appeal and powerful storytelling.

A Personal Note from Richa

Richa revealed the personal reason she and Ali couldn’t attend the festival. “I wish we could travel, but the reason, as you know, is that Ali Fazal and I are bringing in a little home production,” she shared, hinting at an exciting new chapter in their personal lives.

A Stellar Team and Captivating Story

“Girls Will Be Girls” is directed by Shuchi Talati and produced by Pushing Buttons Studios, Blink Digital  and Dolce Vita Films. The film is set in a boarding school in a small Himalayan hill town in northern India and follows the story of Mira, a 16-year-old girl experiencing a rebellious awakening, intertwined with her mother’s unfulfilled coming-of-age journey.

Richa expressed her enthusiasm for the project and praised the cast and crew. She highlighted the contributions of Preeti Panigrahi, Kantari Kanmani, Kesav B and Devika Shahani, all of whom delivered remarkable performances.

Looking Forward to an Indian Release

Richa also hinted at plans to release the film in India soon. “Very soon, we hope to bring this lovely film to India. It is an Indian film, after all, and we want our people to see it and hear the amazing track that Sneha Khanwalkar has created,” she said.

A Milestone in Contemporary Indian Cinema

With its screening at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and now the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, “Girls Will Be Girls” is cementing its place as a significant work in contemporary Indian cinema. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s production continues to receive accolades and praise, marking a successful start to their journey as producers.
