The meticulously directed movie has been chosen from 29 contenders. The list included other prominent creations such as Animal, Kill, Kalki 2898 ad, Srikanth, Maidaan, Sam Bahadur, Chandu Champion, Joram, Hanuman, Maharaja and Aattam.

The Film Federation of India noted that Laapata Ladies is a film that can engage, entertain and make sense, highlighting the movie’s potential to bring about change. The film had a fresh bunch of faces, including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastav.
The female population of India is a “strange mixture of submission and dominance,” according to the Federation. Laapata Ladies perfectly captured this diversity, reflecting that women can desire to be homemakers and also rebel and be entrepreneurially inclined.
Soon after the selection of the movie as India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Film Category for the Oscars 2025, filmmaker Kiran Rao shared her heartfelt gratitude in a long statement, noting that the recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of the entire team.
