Actress Malavika Mohanan is well known for her subtle and deep acting performances from the scripts she has chosen. The pan-India star made her debut in Hindi as the female lead in the movie “Yudra” (2024) alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi. Though this movie received mixed amounts of criticisms, the lead performers were praised for their impressive acting.
She is one of the leading actresses who has shared screens as a lead role in the movie with the biggest stars of all the languages which includes Superstar Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay, Dhanush, Vikram, Mammootty, Vijay Sethupathi, and Dulquer Salman.
In her recent interview with India Today, she has shared her notions and pov regarding her growth to stardom and her journey as a female actress amidst the male supremacy in the film industry. She has also shared about her glee to debut in Telugu industry starring along with the Rebel Star Prabhas in the upcoming movie “The Raja Saab”.
“It’s my Telugu debut, and I waited long for it. I wanted the right film to come my way to foray into the industry. I think nothing gets better than Prabhas sir. It’s in the rom-com space, a very fun, easy film. It’s light-hearted and will cater to a universal audience. The film should be released in April next year. I am really looking forward to it” said Malavika Mohanan.
“The announcement of a film with a big actor does create a lot of buzz, but I call it borrowed stardom,” she added.
Malavika remarked regarding her choice of scripts which are written well with enough importance for the female characters’ performances rather than focussing on their beauty and glamour.
Along with the Telugu movie “The Raja Saab”, she is doing the lead role in the sequel movie of a blockbuster spy action thriller movie “Sardar 2” in Tamil.

Malavika Mohanan entered the acting career with the debut movie in Malayalam “Pattam Pole” in 2013 starring Dulquer Salmaan alongside. Her first romance on the screen received mixed reviews from which she made herself to be conscious in choosing the scripts. She has done impactful supporting roles in the movies “Beyond The Clouds”, a Hindi version of 1997 movie ‘Children of Heaven’, “The Great Father” a crime thriller Malayalam movie and the action drama movie of director Karthik Subburaj’s “Petta”.
She received the accolades nationally for her role as ‘Aarathi’ which possesses some mystery powers, with a deep connection to the past, land and resources of the protagonist, in the action adventure movie “Thangalaan” (2024). It was directed by Ranjith and actor Vikram, Parvathy thiruvothu and Daniel Caltagirone played the lead roles in the period film set in british era.
