The streaming giant, Netflix has renewed the critically acclaimed crime thriller series “Kohrra” for its second season which is set amidst the dense fog of Punjab. After the huge success of its first episode aired in July 2023, the show is to continue with the second murder and bring the viewers even more intricate relationships within the family and hidden affairs. Barun Sobti will be seen again in the role of the young police officer Garundi while Mona Singh of Bollywood will also be seen in the cast but her role is yet to be revealed. This season is special for showrunner Sudip Sharma as he is directing the show for the first time along with the responsibility of producing it.
The Return of a Compelling Narrative
The revelation of the next season of “Kohrra” has caused waves of joy in the community of streamers. The first season enthralled the viewers with the gritty portrayal of Punjab along with the realistic portrayal of murder investigation and the drama of the characters’ personal lives. Although the specifics of the plot are being kept secret, Netflix has shared that the second season will focus on yet another complicated murder case. Thus, the show’s selling point is in the fact that it explores crime and justice as a prism through which to view the world and the characters’ moral choices. Audiences will again get to see the misty landscape of Punjab which is not only the physical setting of the drama but also the symbol of the moral complexities of the characters.
The show has received a positive response from the audience and especially the comeback of Barun Sobti as Garundi. Sobti got immense appreciation for his performance in the first season where he played a young police officer who has to balance his dreams of becoming an officer and a high profile case. The further development of Garundi’s story will most likely show the further transformation of the hero in relation to new circumstances in his work and life.
This is made more interesting with the introduction of Mona Singh to the cast. Though there is not much information about the character, Singh has a successful experience in both television and movie productions so she will not disappoint the audience. She is sure to bring new dynamics into the show and might even upset the apple cart in terms of relationships in the show’s universe.

Definitely one of the most exciting features of “Kohrra” Season 2 is the increased presence of Sudip Sharma.
