Karan Johar is a dynamite and visionary filmmaker who has won the hearts of audiences and fans by giving them some of the finest and timeless films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Student of the Year, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, and many more.
It is not hidden but rather publicly known that the nuanced Bollywood director handles multiple feathers into his cap quite seamlessly. While audiences and fans have loved his finesse as a filmmaker and applauded him for giving masterpiece films each time, Karan Johar has successfully transcended into a renowned television personality, entrepreneur, and also a successful film producer. He has hosted a celebrity chat show named Koffee With Karan ever since 2004 and this has been an audience and fan favorite as well.
Off late, Karan Johar’s official announcement of selling his productions company Dharma Productions 50% stake to renowned business entrepreneur Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Productions for Rs 1000 crores was a huge move that shocked many cinema lovers, viewers, and fans.
In a recent media interaction at the Global Leadership Summit with CNBC TV18, Karan Johar finally broke his silence on how he felt so ‘traumatized’ and ‘nervous’ during the Dharma Productions acquisition meetings daily.
Shedding more light on the same in a viral video by CNBC TV18, Karan Johar stated that he initially did not know that he even had value in real business terms, and as a result, he used to feel very traumatized. He said, “I didn’t know I had a value. I found out. I’ve to say this. I’m probably not going to come across as clever. I want to come across as who I am. I was traumatized in so many of those meetings.”
Karan Johar gave more insight into how he did not gather an in-depth understanding of business-related terms and jargon, also citing that he felt clueless about all these things during the meetings and had zero knowledge of what was going on in those Excel sheets in front of him. Explaining the same, Karan added, “I’m a creative artist. I don’t know what’s a ‘put’ and a ‘call,’ a ‘drag’ and a ‘tag.’ Adar kept saying, ‘I’m going to drag and you’re going to tag.’ I know ‘drag’ in a totally different way. I know what a ‘tag’ is in the price tag I pay in the retail zone. I know ‘put’ and ‘call’ in a very different way altogether. I had no idea what was happening when those Excel sheets would come in front of me.”
