Bollywood is thriving with excitement as Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s eldest son Junaid Khan, is all set to make his grand entry into film industry with the period drama “Maharaj.” Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra’s YRF Entertainment, this most awaited film will premiere on June 14 exclusively on Netflix.
An Intriguing Tale of Truth and Power
The film’s first poster was unveiled recently and it has already generated a lot of buzz and curiosity. Junaid Khan sporting long hair, a mustache, a white shirt and a brown waistcoat emits the vibes of a perfect classic period drama hero. In contrast, Jaideep Ahlawat is seen in the garb of Hindu priest with a ponytail and long Chandan tilak on his forehead.
Netflix India introduced the film on its official Instagram handle with a gripping caption: “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events, Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix!
A Glimpse into History
Set in 1862, Maharaj takes us back to the time of surging independence movements and social upheaval in India. The plot centers on Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer, who takes a brave stand in a path breaking legal battle known as the “Maharaj Libel Case”. This historical case was sparked by allegations of misconduct against a prominent figure and became a significant moment in India’s legal history. Mulji, a protege of the esteemed scholar Dadabhai Naoroji, was a champion for women’s rights and social reform, advocating for widow remarriage and the oppressed.
Star Studded Ensemble
The film promises to be an electrifying watch, not just for its historical significance but also for its star studded cast. Versatile Jaideep Ahlawat, talented Shalini Pandey, debutante Junaid Khan will grace captivate the audiences with their power pack performances. Sharvari Wagh also makes a special appearance, adding more allure to the film.
Junaid’s Journey Begins
Junaid Khan born in 1994 to Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutta, is already forging a distinct path for himself in Bollywood. Apart from this ambitious project Maharaj, he is working on two other films. He will debut as a producer with “Pritam Pyaare”, which features an extended guest appearance by none other than Aamir Khan. Additionally, Junaid will star in another project under Aamir Khan Productions alongside the magnificent Sai Pallavi.
