Born on March 12, 1984, in Murshidabad, into a Bengali Brahmin family, Shreya Ghoshal is celebrating her 41st birthday today. Recipient of multiple accolades, she is recognised as one of the most prolific and influential singers of India.

Shreya is hailed for her remarkable vocal expressions. She has recorded songs for films and albums in different Indian and foreign languages. Shreya recently grabbed her 10th IIFA recognition at the recently concluded ceremony in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Through her versatility, Shreya Ghoshal has cemented her position as a leading musical icon in the industry. She started learning music at the age of 4. Beginning her training in classical music at the age of 6, Shreya made her singing debut in 2002.

Besides playback singing, Shreya has also appeared as a judge in numerous reality competitions. She has been honoured by the US state of Ohio as former Gov Ted Strickland declared June 26, 2010, as ‘Shreya Ghoshal Day’.

During the prestigious IIFA 2025, Shreya and superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt moment. In a viral video posted by the singer on Instagram, the actor is seen approaching her after posing for the media and giving her a hug.

1. Shreya Ghoshal made her singing debut in 2002 in ‘Devdas’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It came after she grabbed the top spot in singing reality competition Sa Re Ga Ma.

2. Not just in Hindi, Shreya has recorded in 12 different Indian languages, including Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Nepali.

3. Shreya has sung songs in at least 5 different genres, such as Classical, Filmi, Ghazal, Pop and Bhajan. Incredible, right?

4. In 2015, Shreya and her childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya tied the knot. They have a son named Devyaan.

5. In 2006, accompanied by many other prominent names such as Sonu Nigam, she performed the theme song of the 2010 Commonwealth Games at its closing ceremony.
