Amazon Prime with its 2023 Spy- Action series Citadel starring our very own Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden as competitive spies have set a line of similar bombastic stories across the globe. The latest ticking one being Citadel: Honey Bunny led by Indian homegrown spies Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan.
The Citadel Spy television series was well received and has been planned to build a world wide franchise with an array of stories of two detectives whose lives are intertwined, placed in the middle of chaos, let loose for a while only to be pulled back for a successful plot.
The Indian edition is directed by the successful writer/director duo Raj & DK and Sita Menon, who have shown their prospects in directing action packed stories with ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Farzi’. The duo is backed by fellow renowned duo The Russo Brothers who are involved with the Citadel universe from the beginning.
Citadel: Honey Bunny Trailer catapults to virality
The Indian Spy Action sets off with light paced with Varun’s (Bunny) monologue and a sneak peak into Samantha’s (Honey) personal life. The duo stuns the viewers with their enigmatic energy on screen, gearing up with full fledged action sequences. Varun who plays Bunny, a stuntman is a part of a spy gang who is involved in high end projects who in turn meets a struggling actress Bunny played by Samantha making a remarkable pair.
The trailer brims with action and mind blowing stunts, offering a perfect sprinkle of humour, a signature seen in Raj & DK’s works. The spies meet after years with a connected past in the form of their daughter Nadia, whose life is apparently at stake, hence the reunion of the talented pair. A significant connection as Priyanka who starred in the original Citadel series was also named Nadia gives fans something to dig around.
Citadel: Honey Bunny screams certain similarities with another popular spy action movie ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’, especially in the tough fight scenes and impressive physical stunts. This anticipated series makes for a perfect weekend watch, with just the stellar leads who bounce off of each other’s energy. The series is releasing worldwide on November 7, 2024.

The rejoiced action series is driven by the epic directors Raj & DK and Sita Menon with the massive banking by The Russo Brothers. Impressive background music composed by Aman Pant adds more spice to the fast paced action.
