Highlights
Recently Kalki Koechlin appeared in an interview with HT and talked openly about her limited number of films in Bollywood, she highlighted the rigid culture of Bollywood – women cannot work after 40, etc.
Kalki Koechlin has a good place in the Bollywood industry. She never rushed into films, even with the limited number of projects she had in Bollywood. According to her, she never follows the crowd, she prefers good stories rather than working in a film.
In Kalki’s words, “But there is another truth to it too. The work comes few and far between. Even though you have so many platforms and different mediums, getting a quality piece of work is once in a while. We have to wait it out. Every script you get will not turn out to be a gem”.

Kalki Said, Bollywood is Harsh for Women after 40!
Kalki is turning 40 this year and her statement on Bollywood raised debates and concerns about the stereotypes towards women in Bollywood. This also put Bollywood in the circle of questions.
Kalki said, “People are so harsh towards women over 40. They don’t know anything about women over 40. They don’t know what happens to our bodies, they don’t know much about menopause. That also because we are not writing about it,”
She added “More women will feel empowered when women writers and directors are out there. That’s because such stories will come to the forefront. The stories about perimenopause, menopause, and the changing lifestyles of women in their later years. There are far and few projects, with more projects in Hollywood with stars such as Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep and Cindy Crawford.”
