Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das will be the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards. Such news, which was announced through the Instagram account of Vir, began reactions of joy among his fans and fellow dancers. Vir Das’s Historic Milestone
Vir Das took to Instagram and announced the exciting news amid lots of gratitude and overwhelming joy from his followers. His post read, “Thanks to ur love, an Indian Emmy Host can’t wait to host the International Emmy Awards this year! Crazy. Thank you for having me. Tremendously Honoured and excited!” Not only is it a big moment in Vir’s life, but also for India, as he is going to be the first Indian ever to host the prestigious International Emmy Awards.
Every year, the International Emmy Awards are held in New York to recognize excellence in television programming outside the United States. This appointment is expected to be a milestone in the success of Indian talent on the global stage and will further strengthen India’s presence in international entertainment.
Industry Reactions and Support
The announcement received much fanfare from Bollywood celebrities and industry peers. Other actors, including Hrithik Roshan and Kriti Sanon, cheered in the comments section of Vir’s Instagram post. Hrithik wrote, “Wow. That’s amazing. Very well done,” while Kriti Sanon added, “That’s so amazing.” Another Bollywood actor, Shweta Tripathi, exclaimed, “Whoaaaaaaa this is amazing!! Shall be watching.”

A Rising Star with Global Appeal
This is not the first time that Vir Das has been on the Emmy stage. In 2021, he was nominated for his Netflix special Vir Das: This is for India. This time, however, he came back stronger after he had been awarded the International Emmy Award for Comedy in 2023 for his special Landing. In their journey from India to global recognition, both the talent and the struggle could be seen and their versatility as a performer could be assessed by the projects that he did.
Apart from stand-up comedy, Vir has worked in a lot of TV shows some of which are Destination Unknown, a web series owned by Amazon Prime, and Hasmukh which is a web series from Netflix. As an actor he has worked in the films Delhi Belly, Go Goa Gone, and Badmaash Company which are Bollywood films. He has also featured in Hollywood where he has acted for Judd Apatow in the Bubble and working on a sitcom for CBS Studios and with Andy Samberg. Besides, he is the lead vocalist in the comedy-rock band known as Alien Chutney which goes to show his versatility.
