A Remarkable Debut: Yevade Subramnayam (2015) 

Naga Ashwin debuted in the film industry with “Yevade Subramanyam.” This film became a superhit, underlines his brilliant storytelling and his talent of connecting with his audiences. The film follows Subramanyam “Subbu”, a very ambitious IIM graduate portrayed by Nani  whose materialistic outlook on life was changed when he decided to embark on a journey to fulfill the last wish of his friend. Mahanati” a biographical drama about the life of legendary actress Savitri , was Ashwin’s second big film. With a magical starcast featuring  Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda  and especially  Keerthy Suresh, who earned widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Savitri. “Mahanati” tales the rise and fall of Savitri’s career, her volatile marriage to director Gemini Ganesan and the personal struggles that ensued. With an IMDb rating of 8.4, “Mahanati” not only mesmerized audiences but also cemented Ashwin’s reputation as a master storyteller.

Pushing Boundaries: Pitta Kathalu (2021)

Nag Ashwin directed the segment titled “xLife”  in the anthology film “Pitta Kathalu.” The story revolves around Vik, a cold hearted founder of a virtual reality company. Despite several warnings that his product is harming love, Vik remains unmoved until he experiences the consequences himself. Although “Pitta Kathalu” has an IMDb rating of 5.2, Ashwin’s segment stood out because of its thought provoking narrative and innovative approach.

The Dynamic Duo: Bujji and Bhairava (2022)

Nag Ashwin continued to push creative boundaries with his short film “Bujji and Bhairava.” Set in the vibrant city of Kasi, the film takes place two years before the events of “Kalki 2898 AD.” The story follows Bhairava, a skilled bounty hunter portrayed by Prabhas, who dreams of entering the Complex, an inverted pyramid structure located at the heart of the city. To achieve this, Bhairava needs to accumulate a million ‘units.’ During his quest, he meets BU-JZ1, an AI pilot of a cargo plane, voiced by Keerthy Suresh, who is also aspiring to move up to the Complex. Together, they embark on a thrilling adventure filled with ambition, partnership, and friendship.

“Bujji and Bhairava” has IMDb ratings of 8.0 and it highlights Ashwin’s ability to tell a compelling story within a short runtime, creating rich characters and a captivating narrative that sets the stage for the expansive universe of “Kalki 2898 AD.”

The Journey to “Kalki 2898 AD”

Nag Ashwin’s latest most anticipated film, “Kalki 2898 AD,” has generated immense excitement among audiences. A Star Studded Cast featuring, Amitabh Bacchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Keerthy Suresh and Disha Patani, the film promises to be a breathtaking panorama. The trailer of the film looks promising with larger than life visuals, storyline, stellar cast and of course Nag Ashwin’s directorial magic.
