She laughs openly and I fell in love with this aspect of her. She is very bindaas as a person. It was beautiful while it lasted.”

A Proposal Rejected
The couple faced a hard phase despite the love they shared, when Oberoi proposed to Singh. At the time, Mona was at the peak of her career, all thanks to her portrayal of Jassi, she became a household name. Remembering that moment Oberoi said, “Jassi was a stellar show and she was a national icon. She was rising in her career. At that time I didn’t understand this, but now I can… She wanted to focus on her career and there is nothing wrong with that.”
Mona’s decision to prioritize her career resulted in their breakup, a decision that left Karan heartbroken but respectful for her dreams and aspirations.
Coping and Moving Forward
Karan faced a tough time after their breakup and he chose writing as a way to cope with his emotions. “Writing became my solace, a way to channel my feelings and find peace,” he revealed. Even after so many years, Karan and Mona never crossed paths since their breakup. On December 27, 2019, Mona married Filmmaker Shyam Rajagopalan and Karan decided to remain single and focus on his career.
