Hindi web series have been the epicenter of this digital revolution, mesmerizing audiences with amazing storytelling and casts. But there is one thing that worries every second viewer- will the sequel be as good as the first season? The first season of “Scam 1992” uncovered the life of “The Big Bull” Harshad Mehta, the show revolves around the infamous Harshad Mehta securities scam. Show’s marvelous writing, breathtaking performances, and fast paced storytelling made it a big hit. The second season titled “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Courtroom Drama, did not disappoint the audience at all. Covering the complexities of the Indian judicial system, it meticulously narrated the legal battle against Mehta. Show’s stellar performances, sharp focus and the ability to keep viewers glued to their seats, secures its place as a landmark achievement in Indian television.

The Family Man– Balancing Action And Emotions (Amazon Prime Video)

      This series took the Indian OTT world by Storm with its unique mixture of humor, espionage and action. Srikanth Tiwari a not so common- Common Man switching his duties as a middle class family man and a top notch secret agent for a special counter terrorist unit, connected deeply with the audience. Season two effortlessly picked up where the first one ended, and this time Srikant is a Corporate Man and for the sake of his family he no longer  is not a part of the special counter unit. But things take some unusual twists and turns and Srikant is back with KD in his witty humorous Spy Agent avatar. A story with lots of emotions, drama, pain of losing loved one, betrayal and courage made the second season of this Manoj Bajpaye, Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Sunny Hinduja and the diva Samantha Ruth Prabhu, successfully delivered a sequel that was just mind blowing.

Mirzapur- Upping The Ante In The Dark Underbelly ( Amazon Prime Video)

      This gritty crime drama “Mirzapur” entrenched itself as a fan favorite with its portrayal of gang wars, power struggles and revenge in the lawless city of Kaleen Bhaiya “Mirzapur”. Violence in the show is fearless, the ultimate saga of “Game of Thrones” in the Tripathi family turned into Munna Bhaiya Vs Bablu and Guddu got a traumatizing blood shedded ending in season one. The much awaited season two did not shy away from the show’s signature intensity. Guddu and Golu’s revenge against Munna to avenge the death of Bablu and Dimpy was something viewers were expecting, but they got some extra hampers with this expected gift. The rise of new alliances and rivalries, introduction of new characters and the constant fight for Mirzapur throne. The action sequences were more brutal than the last season, acting and story motivations were more explored, and the show continued to be a thrilling realization of the dark side of human nature and ambitions.

Criminal Justice– A Gripping Exploration of the Legal System (Disney+Hotstar)

    This web series offered a thought provoking look at the nuances of the Indian judicial system. The first season, inspired by the British series “Broadchurch”, was a gripping legal drama, following the story of a young man accused of murder. The second season got a new case with a new set of characters, but it carried the show’s core strength- its ability to raise needed questions about human cost of legal battles and justice privileges. The second season was a treat for viewers who loved the first season.

Paatal Lok– Delving Deeper Into the Underbelly of Society (Amazon Prime Video)

      Paatal Lok surprised the audience with its dark and gritty revelation of class disparity, police corruption and the hidden depths of society. The first season rotates around a suspenseful narrative around a police officer investigating a high profile case that led him to the dark Underbelly of Paatal Lok, a metaphor used for the unseen and ignored side of society. The second season effortlessly shifted the focus towards a cop, who is haunted by the events of the first season and he is our new protagonist. The series explored the cyclical nature of crime, the struggle for justice and the psychological impact of police work. We can say the change in protagonist might have been a gamble, but the second season also proved to be as compelling and thought provoking as the previous one.

Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side – Mythology Meets Serial Killers (Voot & JioCinema)

“Asur” is a unique entry on this list, It switched platforms for its second season. This psychological crime thriller pushed viewers into a battle between a forensic expert, Dhananjay Rajpoot (Arshad Warsi), and a cunning serial killer inspired by ancient Indian mythology “Kali”. The first season’s suspenseful chase had Dhananjay wrangling with the  Asur, whose murders were based on mythological concepts of good and evil. The second season, titled “Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side – Wajah,” upped the stakes considerably. A traumatized Dhananjay seeks solace in a monastery, while a new CBI officer takes charge of the Asur case. The killer, Shubh continues his gruesome murders, now enters a young boy believed to be a reincarnation of a god “Kalki”, the last Avatar of Lord Vishnu. The season delves deeper into the philosophical battle between good and evil, with mind games, shocking twists, and a cliffhanger ending that leaves viewers desperate for a third season.
