Netflix has been releasing back-to-back hits since the beginning of 2025. Their K-drama content is top-notch, including ‘The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call’ and ‘The Potato Lab’. There is another language that has been taking the streaming platform by storm.
Netflix’s first Canadian original series ‘North of North‘ is releasing next month. The trailer for this highly anticipated drama has created a lot of excitement among fans of comedy. ‘North of North’ is not special just because of its shooting location. There is a lot more.
‘North of North’ release date confirmed
From creators Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril – both part of ‘The Grizzlies’ earlier – ‘North of North’ is about a young, modern Inuk girl, Siaja. She seeks to build a better future for herself after a spontaneous and public exit from her marriage.
But can Siaja succeed? This Canadian series is set in the fictional place of Ice Cove, Nunavut. In the beginning of the season, Siaja is quite frantic and insecure, Anna Lambe, the actress playing the female protagonist in ‘North of North’ tells Netflix.
Siaja makes some large and life-changing decisions that force her to fall flat on her face in front of her entire community and cause her to try to turn things around for the better. The audience’s anticipation builds up as the days go by. ‘North of North’ is releasing on April 10.
‘North of North’ shooting location
‘North of North’ has been shot in Iqaluit, the real capital of the territory of Nunavut, a bustling city of 8,000 inhabitants. Both Aglok MacDonald and Arnaquq-Baril are Inuit and live in the Arctic, so telling this story highlighting their community is personal and meaningful.
Interestingly, Iqaluit is also star Anna Lambe’s close place, so shooting in that location has been a great experience for her. “People constantly come up to me to hug me,” she told Netflix, highlighting the outpouring of support she received at the time.
