Epic fantasy masterpiece ‘Princess Mononoke’ is coming to IMAX theatres in the US and Canada this month. Tickets are already on sale for the film – to be screened in both original Japanese language and English language dubbed options.
First released in 1997, ‘Princess Mononoke’ is one of Oscar-recognised director Hayao Miyazaki’s legends from Studio Ghibli, a globally celebrated animation house. The film’s 4K restoration is set to debut on March 26, 2025.

‘Princess Mononoke’ has become a cultural touchpoint and maintains an immeasurable influence on modern cinema. This masterpiece has been dazzling audiences across the globe using its breathtaking imagination, deep humanity and exhilarating battles.
This animated feature is an original story directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder Miyazaki, produced by co-founder Toshio Suzuki, and features a musical store from the director’s long-time collaborator, the prominent composer Joe Hisaishi.

First released on July 12, 1997, ‘Princess Mononoke’ sees a courageous prince getting a lethal curse and, ultimately, setting off on a journey to find a cure. He lands in the middle of a battle featuring a forest princess and the encroachment of mechanisation.
