One of the major production projects from Disney is the evergreen princess story ‘Snow White’ that is now getting a live action starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot in the lead roles. The upcoming ‘Snow White’ is slated for premiere on 21 March, a grand premiere but Disney has backed out and restricted any Red Carpet appearances before the premiere along with confining to lesser media. The usual robust tradition of a Disney Premiere Red Carpet will not be a part of the ‘Snow White’ premiere and the studio has also planned on having only a selected few photographers and a house crew, reported Variety.
The restrictions are said to be due to the lead actresses’ past controversies that began two years ago when Rachel Zegler commented how the 1937 OG version of ‘Snow White’ is ‘dated’ and that the prince had literally stalked her in the story. This triggered some toxic and ardent Disney fans who rallied against Zegler’s portrayal of the character because of her ethnicity.

While Zegler’s comment on the classic Disney princess was received with bitterness online, her political stand also contributed to the premiere constraints as the actress raised her voice for ‘Free Palestine’ that triggered many. Such controversies and a few have been clarified by the actress even apologised for her statement regarding Trump’s office.
Actress Gal Gadot, famous for her roles in ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and ‘Stone Heart’, is an Israeli actress who has been outspoken about her support to her country regarding the massacres of the Jewish community. Along with the lead actresses, actor Peter Dinklage, known for his roles in ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Brothers’ and others has voiced out how the studio is still focusing on the showcase of the dwarf community.

Such controversies are being patched up through the ‘Snow White’ movie promotions that began with the Oscars 2025 where Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot were seen presenting an award. Promotions planned in Mexico and a special show for the Broadway Community in New York are all on deck for the movie.
While fans and audience are always up for a Disney movie release in the theatres, such controversies and backlash for the ‘Snow White’ trailer and the movie might give an upper hand for other animated or live action releases planned for this year like the ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ that has impressed the fans with the trailer.
