Storyline of the series:
The story of Zyada Mat Udd is set in Air-Aasman Airlines where Goldie Khurana (Shehzad Shaikh), a rich heir, gets a big shock that he won’t get his inheritance so easily. To own the airline, he must first win the “Flight Attendant of the Year” award. Disguised as a new steward named Gopal, he struggles with tricky flights, demanding passengers, and a funny, unpredictable crew and guess what, he has to do all this while keeping his real identity a secret. He is attracted to Kajal Thakkar (Helly Shah), a smart and ambitious air hostess who dreams of marrying a rich man but she doesn’t know that her perfect match is right beside her. Then there’s Shilpa Srivastava (Aishwarya Sakhuja) who is the strict head stewardess with Bollywood dreams who makes sure Goldie’s journey is full of challenges. With this strange crew, the passengers have more to worry about than just turbulence. Will Goldie or Gopal survive the madness, or will his secret come out mid-flight?
Episode 1: Goldie’s flight with chaos begins
Goldie Khurana, a rich heir, is celebrating his 25th birthday mid-flight when everything changes. His father Satish Khurana suddenly passes away. But instead of taking over Air-Aasman Airlines, Goldie faces a shocking challenge. To prove he deserves his inheritance, he must work as a flight steward under a fake name Gopal, and win the “Flight Attendant of the Year” award. On his first day, Goldie struggles with strange crew members, demanding passengers, and total in-flight chaos. With his secret identity at risk and madness all around, his journey starts with a bumpy, hilarious start.
Review of Zyada Mat Udd Episode 1
Positive Aspects:
Episode 1 is fun and unique, with Goldie’s journey from a spoiled brat to a disguised flight attendant setting the stage for great comedy and character growth.
The series takes clever digs at Bollywood’s nepotism culture with references like nepo baby, kissing wives of Dubai Sheikhs, and driving cars on footpaths.
Goldie’s transformation into Gopal, his interactions with Kajal, Shilpa, and other weird crew members, make for an entertaining watch. The nok-jhok between Kajal and Gopal is especially cute.
Goldie’s task of winning the “Flight Attendant of the Year” award while keeping his identity a secret adds excitement. His ability to communicate with the Chinese diplomats unexpectedly surprises everyone, adding a fun twist.
Scenes like the mischievous young passenger bullying Gopal and the confusion with Chinese diplomats (Fak and Yu) bring genuine laughter.
The late Satish Khurana appearing from the photo to guide (and mock) Goldie adds an emotional and comic touch. His appreciation of Goldie’s efforts hints at future growth.
The ending of Episode 1 where someone hints at knowing Goldie’s true identity, keeps viewers hooked for the next episode.
Negative Aspects:
The “rich brat forced to prove himself” storyline has been done before, though the aviation setting adds freshness.
Goldie’s transformation from a spoilt brat to a common man happens quickly. A bit more buildup could have made the transition smoother.
Verdict:
The first episode of Zyada Mat Udd follows a predictable storyline but offers a good mix of comedy, drama, and romance. While some suspenseful moments may keep viewers interested in future episodes, the show feels more suited for television rather than an OTT platform.
