According to – various reports on news portals, the actress was admitted in a hospital here for a long time. For those unaware, Uma suffered cancer and was undergoing treatment for a long time. However, her condition only worsened and deteriorated. As a result of which, the actress passed away after her gruesome battle with cancer.

As per updates from deceased actress Uma’s politician and actor relative Chiranjeet to a leading Bengali regional news portal, Uma Dasgupta was suffering from cancer. She breathed her last breath in the early morning hours of November 18, 2024. She passed away at 8:00 am today and had been fighting a battle with cancer for many years. Chiranjeet also shared that in the morning he met Uma’s daughter and got the saddening news that Uma is no more. Explaining the same, he said, “Uma di’s daughter informed me that she is no more. She was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.”
As per a viral tweet by a user on X, he confirmed the actress’s death and also shared how much the actress will be missed and that it is a huge loss for the industry. His tweet read, “Legendary Uma Dasgupta from Satyajit Ray’s iconic Panther Panchali is no more, but Durga will always stay in our heart, forever. Rest in peace, noble soul!.”
