After garnering critical acclaim for his multilayered performances in films like Mardaani, Raid, Pataakha, and Chicchhore, Saanand Verma has carved a permanent niche for himself in his burgeoning career as an actor in Indian films and television industry.

In his latest project, Vijay 69, which was released recently on Netflix, Verma surprises his fans and audiences by portraying the role of a passionately driven media journalist. For those who don’t know, this type of ‘tailor-made’ role and ‘dream’ character in Vijay 69 has a lot of importance for him, given his history in journalism.

Opening up on what was the one aspect that intrigued him to come on board in the film and how this character is something that is related to his earliest days before being an actor, Saanand shares, “I really wanted to be part of this project because the character is a journalist, and I’ve actually been a journalist in my earlier days.”

Saanand opened up on how he was a ‘print’ journalist before moving to electronic media during his initial career days as a media professional. Giving more insight on it, he said, “I started in print journalism before moving into electronic media. But the role was more entertainment-focused than real journalism. I always wanted to be a journalist like Arnab Goswami, though I didn’t quite end up like him. So, playing a journalist in this film felt exciting and close to my heart.”

Furthermore, Saanand gave more details on how the character of a journalist in Vijay 69 is so engaging and challenging with many layers. Explaining the same, he adds, “The most challenging aspect of playing this role was reliving my journalism days. It’s not an easy profession. You have to be constantly alert and work under pressure, and this role demanded that I tap into that mindset.”
