The 31-year-old actress took to Instagram to flaunt an ‘I voted’ sticker and a thump for Kamala Harris, the VP of the Democratic candidate. Soon the story received attention, and most surprisingly many fans did not even know that Akansha was the holder of US citizenship. People came out to discuss her involvement in the election particularly on the internet especially on Reddit where people were shocked that she is a US citizen.
Replying to the Reddit post that was captioned “Definitely did NOT know this,” the fans responded positively to the new information. Some users used the moment to talk about other Indians with dual citizenship, mentioning that actor Akshay Kumar recently gave up his Canadian passport, and actress Alia Bhatt has a British one. Moreover, celebrities such as Isha and Akash Ambani hold US citizenship which adds to the list of India-based celebrities with international ties.
In addition to the citizenship revelation, some users delved into Akansha’s past and asked why she uses “Kapoor” as her last name as her family members use “Ranjan.” Questions such as, “Why is she a Kapoor when the rest of the family is just Ranjan” sparked further debate.
