Netflix’s hit drama set in the Regency period, Bridgerton, is to return for a fourth season with a fresh lineup of stars. One of them is Katie Leung who played the role of Cho Chang in the Harry Potter movie series. Production for the fourth season has started in London and viewers will again see a brilliant story of love and scandal in the era of Regency England. This season will be about Benedict Bridgerton romances with the story based on Julia Quinn’s book entitled “An Offer from a Gentleman”.
Katie Leung’s New Role
Now 37 years old, Katie Leung is taking up the role of Lady Araminta Gun, a woman ‘twice married and twice widowed.’ This role is a far cry from her Harry Potter series roles. Araminta is a lady who is the mother of two daughters, Rosamund and Posy Li, who are debutants in the marriage market. The character experiences pressure to get good marriages for her children, which creates an interesting plot twist to the season.
Leung’s character is fresh in the scheme of things in the Bridgerton universe. In this novel, Lady Araminta, she is to address the intricacies of Regency London while overseeing the marriageable daughters. Her eldest, Rosamund, has developed feelings for Benedict Bridgerton, the show’s season protagonist, which will give viewers interesting relations and rivalries.
Season 4 Cast And The General Plot
Katie Leung is not the only new face as the fourth season of Bridgerton also brings in other characters. Luke Thompson will return in the role of Benedict Bridgerton whilst Yerin Ha will be joining the series as Sophie Baek, who is expected to be their love interest of Benedict. Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei will be portraying Rosamund and Posy Li, Lady Araminta’s daughters who are out to start their debuts. Benedict Bridgeton’s character is portrayed as a man who is very reluctant to settle down for a monogamous relationship unlike his brothers, Anthony and Colin who are both happily married. This hesitance opens the doors for what looks like a good love story, where Benedict has to struggle with the culture and her heart.
Though many of the previous cast are likely to return, there is doubt as to whether Simone Ashley will be coming back. It also has not been confirmed whether actress Ashley, who portrays the character of Viscountess Kate Bridgerton will be in the next season. But, according to some reports she is willing to come back if it is the script requires her to do so.
The making of the Bridgerton season 4 is another milestone in the hit series show. Premised on Julia Quinn’s books, the series has successfully evoked the interest of its viewers with a mix of historical romance and contemporary humor. While shooting in London continues, the audience will be able to expect even more beautiful outfits, complex stories, and the peculiar spirit of the show that has brought Bridgerton worldwide popularity.
